Health Professions
Distinguished Teacher Award
The West Virginia University School of Medicine Health Profession Distinguished Teacher Award is given yearly to recognize and reward faculty for exceptional teaching. The prestigious award highlights those who excel in innovation in teaching methods, course and curriculum design and instructional tools. A key criterion for the award is documentation showing that the nominee is regarded as one of the top teachers, regardless of rank, within the School of Medicine. Awardees are chosen by a diverse committee of faculty and students who actively seek nominations and carefully review each submission to select the most deserving recipients.
Two awards are given each year. The senior level award recognizes an associate/professor level faculty member or faculty member with five or more years of service at the time of the nomination deadline. The junior level award recognizes a faculty member with less than five years of service and below assistant professor level at the time of the nomination deadline.
