Dr. Rahul Gupta to deliver keynote at WVU Global Health Week
Sponsored by West Virginia University Global Health Program, Health Sciences will host Dr. Rahul Gupta as the keynote speaker for Global Health Week 2025 at the event “Health Without Borders: Innovation, Access, and the Future of Global Health” on Monday, Oct. 6, at noon in Room 1905 of the Health Sciences Center North. The event will also be available on Zoom.
Gupta, president of GATC Health and former director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, is a physician, policymaker and educator who has dedicated his career to improving public health and safety. He coordinated the nation’s $44 billion drug policy budget across 19 federal agencies and is credited with leading the most significant progress in addressing the drug overdose crisis in U.S. history.
Gupta previously served as West Virginia’s health commissioner under two governors and held leadership roles at March of Dimes, where he oversaw domestic and global health efforts. He has also served as faculty at Georgetown University School of Medicine and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
His keynote will highlight how innovation, access and collaboration across sectors can shape the future of global health, an issue closely tied to WVU’s mission to improve health outcomes in West Virginia and around the world.
