What is Sleep Hygiene?

Sleep Hygiene refers to the practices and habits that help you get quality sleep on a regular basis. Here are some helpful tips to improve your sleep routine:

Create a Schedule.

Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This allows your body to create an internal schedule and ensures you get the right amount of rest to perform at your highest level.

Wind down your Mind.

Avoid screen time at least 30 minutes before you go to bed. Limiting your screen time will help the body know it is time to sleep. Journaling is a great alternative that can help quiet your mind and reduce overthinking before bed.

Limit light and unnecessary noise.

Bright lights and loud noises can keep the body awake. It is important to find noise that calms your body down such as white noise machines, wave sounds or no sound at all. Limiting light will also allow your body to recognize it is time to sleep.
