Welcome to the West Virginia SEED Symposium: Students as Emerging Educators Developing Their Identities.

The 2026 WV SEED Symposium is a one-day, in-person event focused on professionalism, leadership, and educational scholarship in healthcare. Designed for students in health profession programs across West Virginia, the symposium brings together learners from multiple colleges and programs to cultivate their professional identities as emerging educators while strengthening practical teaching skills. Student attendees will leave with actionable tools, meaningful connections, and a clearer sense of their role in shaping the future of healthcare education in West Virginia and beyond.

Conference Theme: “Innovation in Action!”

Innovation in Action highlights the creative and scholarly efforts of graduate health professions learners who are advancing teaching and learning in meaningful ways. This showcase celebrates emerging 'NextGen' educators who are translating ideas into impact and shaping the future of healthcare education across West Virginia.

Poster Abstracts

We are now accepting abstract submissions for consideration in the "Innovation & Scholarship" Poster Showcase. The abstract submission deadline is Friday, May 15, 2026. View the poster submission guidelines.

Conference Highlights

The West Virginia SEED Symposium will include:

Conference attendees are expected to participate in all components of the event. Attendance is in person only and will be held on the Morgantown campus.

Who Should Attend

We invite health professions students currently enrolled in a West Virginia–based health professions program, including: Audiology, Athletic Training, Dentistry and Dental Hygiene, Dietitian, Emergency Medical Technician, Health Informatics and Information, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Music Therapy, Medicine (MD, DO), Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Related health professions programs, Social Work, and Speech and Language Pathology.
