Annual, mandatory HSC employee cybersecurity training will now be done in InfoSec IQ system

As announced on Oct. 1 via Mountaineer E-news, all employees on all WVU campuses are now required to complete annual cybersecurity awareness training. This will begin Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Employees with an @hsc.wvu.edu email account will no longer complete this training in SOLE and will be transitioned to Infosec IQ.

Employees will receive an email from Infosec IQ, indicating you have been enrolled in the FY2025 Cybersecurity Awareness Training course. This mandatory course takes about 45 minutes to complete, and you will have 60 days to finish the 11 online modules and the assessment. Anyone with an active employee role in MAP will be required to take training, including graduate assistants, students with an employee role, and faculty/staff emeritus with an active courtesy appointment.

To ensure HIPAA compliance, employees on the HSC campus have always been required to complete annual cybersecurity awareness training. Earlier this year, to help protect the integrity of WVU systems and data, and to help reduce the risk of a damaging security incident, the WVU Board of Governors approved extended this training requirement to all employees on all campuses.

The cybersecurity training in Infosec IQ is different from the training previously provided in SOLE, so everyone enrolled will need to complete it, regardless of when you may have last completed training in SOLE. The current SOLE cybersecurity course will be made inactive at the end of day today, and all future security training will be done in Infosec IQ.

If you recently received notifications to complete security training in SOLE you can disregard those and instead complete your training in Infosec IQ. If you continue to receive notifications from SOLE related to cybersecurity training, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444 or ITSHelp@mail.wvu.edu.

Employees who don’t complete the course will be identified as non-compliant with WVU policies and be required to change their Login password every 45 days rather than once a year.
