Mertins to manage social media for Health Sciences
Tyler Mertins recently joined WVU Health Sciences as the new social media strategist for University Relations-Health Sciences.
Tyler will be responsible for managing the Health Sciences Vice President's social media presence and for creating multimedia content for Health Sciences social channels, including collaborating with the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health.
Previously, he was the digital media manager for National Press Foundation in Washington, D.C. and prior to that handled reporting and editing assignments for the City of Laurel, Maryland.
During his tenure at National Press Foundation, Tyler shot and edited video, photos and audio, and contributed to NPF’s social media and website presence to help educate journalists in the United States and around the world. In this role, he supported training programs in Des Moines, Iowa to Hong Kong, delivering content on a variety of topics for journalists to use in their stories.
Tyler is a Morgantown native and WVU alumnus where he spent six seasons playing alto saxophone in The Pride of West Virginia marching band.
