PURPOSE: October 2021: Mental Health Resources
West Virginia University recently launched mentalhealth.wvu.edu to showcase a variety of mental health services across campus.
Taking care of ourselves — physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally — is incredibly important. Especially as members of the Health Sciences community, we must care for ourselves before we have the capacity to care for others.
West Virginia University recently launched mentalhealth.wvu.edu to highlight resources and services across campus. The site also provides crisis information and a number of "What To Do If..." scenarios. Visit the site, bookmark it and reference it as needed.
Additionally, Health Sciences students have access to BeWell, a satellite office of the Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services. BeWell welcomes all Health Sciences majors, including undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
If you haven't already, check out their "Try This Tuesday" blog. Each week, Layne Hitchcock or Seth Haxel pens a blog post with helpful mental health and well-being tips.
As the neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor said, “To experience peace does not mean that your life is always blissful. It means that you are capable of tapping into a blissful state of mind amidst the normal chaos of a hectic life.”
I ask you all to tap into your bliss every opportunity you get.
Be well.
