Community Service Form
Community Service Form
Each HSTA student must complete at least 75 hours of approved community service before submitting their tuition and fee waiver application in their senior year.
To count toward this requirement, your community service project must be approved by your Local Governing Board (LGB) or their designee.
Many types of projects can qualify, and each region may have its own guidelines. Your teacher or Field Site Coordinator (FSC) can help you determine which projects meet HSTA requirements.
If you’re unsure whether something qualifies, ask your FSC or LGB before starting.
Community service means volunteer work—you’re helping others without receiving pay or reimbursement. If you’re paid or reimbursed, it does not count as community service.
Documentation of approved community service should include:
Date, type, and place of activity
Beginning and ending time frame
Name of person/facility to whom service was provided
Signature of authorized facilitator or recipient of services
