Javier Cárdenas, M.D., director of the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute’s Concussion and Brain Injury Center and NeuroPerformance Innovation Center (NPIC), is one of 13 subject matter experts who contributed to the development of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) training program for healthcare professionals who work with survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV).

The West Virginia Public Education Collaborative and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation hosted “ Focus Forward: Long Live West Virginia” April 22, 2025, in Morgantown, West Virginia. An annual event, sessions are uniquely designed to link education and economic development. More than 550 attendees came together for the 2025 event to with meet with national, state and local experts and decision makers to explore the intersection of health, wellness and economic mobility while networking and forging meaningful connections. Dr. Clay Marsh shares a follow-up thought piece on how West Virginia, and the nation, can begin to improve health and longevity for the long-term.
Annual cybersecurity awareness training begins Oct. 6, must be done within 45 days
To help protect the integrity of WVU systems and data, and to reduce the risk of a damaging security incident, all WVU employees on all campuses are required to complete annual cybersecurity awareness training. Training will begin Monday, Oct. 6 as part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and you will have 45 days to complete both the modules and the assessment. You cannot just skip the content and take the exam.

SOLE users can expect to see changes to the SOLE login screen after 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. If you have a WVU Login or WVU Medicine Login, choose the WVU/ WVU Medicine Sign-In button, select your role when prompted, and authenticate using the Okta Verify app or a supported multi-factor token.

Registration requirements for all clinical studies at WVU
The West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute has released information on the expansion of Clinical Trials Center of Excellence (COE) registration requirements. This document outlines the expansion of COE registration requirement to now include any human clinical trial or prospective observational clinical study being conducted at any WVU Campus, including WVU Morgantown, WVU East, Potomac State and Beckley.
