WVU launches prevention program to support at-risk youth, young adults

Research shows prevention programs are effective at reducing risk of substance use and addiction, and the prevalence of drug use increases rapidly during adolescence and the transition to young adulthood. To support this population through these critical development years, West Virginia University has launched Regional Transition Navigator services.

September SAPH meeting scheduled for Sept. 21

The Student Association of Public Health (SAPH) will be hosting their September meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, September 21 from 7:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. Please note that registration is required in order to attend. SAPH is a student run organization comprised of current students, faculty and staff from the School of Public Health who are dedicated to promoting public health issues throughout WVU and the local community.

WVU to host Prevention Summit

The WVU community is invited to attend the Prevention Summit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in the Mountainlair Ballrooms. Prevention experts from across the University and Morgantown community will come together to share their work in the area of prevention.

Connect with the Health Sciences community during WVU Week of Purpose

West Virginia University’s inaugural Week of Purpose begins Sept. 18. Students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy a variety of sessions, including a workshop with Dr. Clay Marsh and a special visit from Stormy, one of the miniature horses from On Eagles’ Wings Therapeutic Horsemanship, at the Health Sciences Center.

Simulation Certificate Program to be offered Oct. 12-14

The WVU School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Information in collaboration with the David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (STEPS) will offer the Simulation Certificate Program Oct. 12-14 for instructors with interest in quality teaching with simulation.
