Health Tips: Suicide Awareness and Prevention
The West Virginia University School of Nursing and the McDowell County Commission on Aging are partnering to present a series of health tips. In this video, Rylie O'Neal discusses the warning signs around suicide and tips on how to respond if someone is at risk. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24/7 at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
Trans Safe Zone training to be held Oct. 15
A Trans Safe Zone Training session will be held Oct. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. via Zoom, hosted in collaboration between the WVU School of Nursing, WVU LGBTQ+ Center and Suncrest United Methodist Church.

WVU celebrates 15 years of simulation education at state-of-the-art STEPS center
When West Virginia University opened its simulation center on the Health Sciences Campus in Morgantown 15 years ago, programming provided just 5,000 educational encounters per year. Now, the David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety is facilitating nearly 30,000 educational encounters each year as its expert team prepares learners of all skill levels for competent, compassionate patient care.

West Virginia University Health Sciences is recognizing ten individuals and one team with Chancellor’s Awards, as well as four individuals with a WISH (Women in Science & Health) Awards, for their significant contributions to its mission. A ceremony to honor the 2024 award winners will be held Thursday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. in Pylons Commons.
