An Unexpected Delivery: WVU nursing student helps deliver baby while working as EMT
“Helping deliver this baby was the most fun EMS call I have ever been on in my almost six years of working on the ambulance,” said Tanner Colley. “I am very thankful for the help and guidance from my wonderful paramedic partner, Taylor, and of course what I learned in my OB classes and clinicals.”
Student travel and faculty research abroad grants open for submissions
The application period for the Nancy Sanders Memorial Student Travel Grant and the Nancy Sanders Memorial Faculty Research Abroad Grant is now open. Up to ten student awards of $2,000 each are available for the academic year. One faculty global pilot research award of $10,000 is available.
Scholarship funds available for Mingo County nurses interested in Faith Community Nursing
Scholarship funds are available for 20 Mingo County nurses who would like to complete the Faith Community Nursing program. Taught by the WVU School of Nursing, Faith Community Nursing focuses on the intentional care of the spirit as part of the process of promoting holistic health and preventing or minimizing illness in a faith community.
WVU Health Sciences to host information fair for new employees
New employees at West Virginia University’s Health Sciences Campus in Morgantown, including J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and other clinical facilities associated with WVU Medicine, are invited to learn more about the community at an upcoming Employee Life Fair.
WVU Health Sciences summer institute promotes excellence in teaching
Welcoming scholars from across the country, the West Virginia University Health Sciences Faculty Development Program presented the 18th Annual Teaching Scholars Summer Institute earlier this month.

WVU Health Sciences faculty are invited to attend a Faculty Development Program engagement event on Monday, September 19, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Erickson Alumni Center.
Stipend available to health professions students through Scholars Program
Applications are now open for the West Virginia Area Health Education Centers Rural Community Health Scholars Program (RCH Scholars). RCH Scholars is a two-year program available to 75 of West Virginia’s top health professions students interested in serving medically underserved and/or rural populations across the state.
Brief internet outage scheduled for July 3
On Sunday, July 3, at 10 p.m., there will be a brief internet outage for the Health Sciences campus network, including Morgantown, Charleston and Eastern Division campuses.
Health Sciences students invited to participate in HIV/IPE volunteer opportunity
The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center is offering a volunteer opportunity in HIV workforce development for third- and fourth-year students at WVU Health Sciences this summer. Participants will receive a $10 gift card to Chick-fil-A or Starbucks and two hours of community service with certificate upon completion.
