Angel Smothers, clinical associate professor with the West Virginia University School of Nursing, was recently received a 2022 Award of Distinction in Mentoring Undergraduates in Research.
Volunteers needed for Monongalia County QRT's "Save a Life Day"
The Monongalia County Quick Response Team (QRT) will host Save a Life Day on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 11 locations across the county. Volunteers are needed for the event.

Donate unwanted items to Annual Blue and Gold Mine Sale
Beginning Monday, May 2, the campus community and students can drop off unwanted items at any WVU residence hall as well as four drop off locations around Morgantown. Acceptable items include but are not limited to furniture, clothing, appliances, décor, sporting equipment, electronics and the list goes on.
Heather Carter-Templeton chosen by the National League for Nursing for LEAD
Heather Carter-Templeton, Chair of the West Virginia University School of Nursing Department of Adult Health, has been selected through a competitive application process for the National League for Nursing’s year-long LEAD program, one of two tracks in the NLN Leadership Institute.

WVU trauma team collecting personal hygiene products and clothing for Ukrainians
WVU’s trauma team, led by Dr. Alison Wilson, is organizing a Donation Drive for Ukraine April 25 - May 6 to provide clothing, personal hygiene products and supplies to Ukrainians in need. Items can be dropped in bins at the Health Sciences Center or donated via an Amazon Wishlist.
WVU School of Nursing faculty member chosen for sixth IDEA Fellows cohort
Five new WVU faculty members, including Heather Carter-Templeton with the WVU School of Nursing, have been selected by the Office of the Provost following a rigorous application process as the recipients of the 2022-24 Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Applied Faculty Fellowship, a multi-disciplinary initiative to bolster WVU’s culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.
WVU School of Nursing students attend National Student Nurses Convention
Five West Virginia University School of Nursing students from the Morgantown and Keyser campuses recently attended the 70th Anniversary Convention of the National Student Nurses Association. Hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah, the convention was held April 6-10 with a theme of “Here’s to the Heroes.”
