For fiscal year 2024, West Virginia University crushed its record in externally supported research expenditures with $275 million — an 82% increase from five years ago.

A pinning ceremony was held Thursday evening for the first-ever cohort of students to graduate from the WVU School of Nursing Bridgeport Campus. The ceremony at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in downtown Clarksburg honored 15 graduates.

The WVU School of Nursing is making it not one, but two years of offering the best Registered Nursing program in the state. They were awarded this honor by RegisteredNursing.org, who gave them a 98.54 score out of 100.
WVU School of Nursing celebrates first Bridgeport Campus graduates
The WVU School of Nursing celebrated its first graduates from the Bridgeport Campus on Thursday, Aug. 8 during a pinning ceremony. A total of 15 graduates successfully completed the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program at the Bridgeport Campus, which is housed on the fifth floor of WVU Medicine United Hospital Center.

VIDEO: Nursing faculty discuss innovative Clinical Assistant Program to support student curriculum
WVU School of Nursing faculty members discuss the Clinical Assistant (CA) program, formed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which pairs sophomore students with senior leadership students for a clinical assistant day. Curriculum is enhanced for both groups, as sophomores can learn from their peers, while the seniors can reinforce their knowledge and skillset. Students are also exposed to the role of the nurse educator, which can establish a pipeline for future educational and career opportunities.

SOLE and SOLE-related applications will be unavailable 8:30-9 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 11, for important maintenance. There will be no noticeable changes in features or functionality when this work is complete.
WVU in the News: Princeton nurse launches faith-based screening and outreach program
Mercer County registered nurse Tera Dillow has launched a new health screening and outreach program within Princeton’s Johnston Chapel Baptist Church community. Dillow brings 25 years of experience having lived and worked in the Mercer County area and has completed the West Virginia University School of Nursing’s Foundations in Faith Community Nursing Course as a means of additionally reinforcing her abilities and capacity for effective outreach.
