Future physical therapists studying at the West Virginia University School of Medicine will benefit from a new scholarship established by a growing north-central West Virginia practice to help keep skilled clinicians in the state.
WVU in the News: West Virginia University to receive federal funding for mobile wastewater testing lab
West Virginia University is set to receive $930,000 in federal funding to develop and equip a mobile wastewater testing laboratory for use across West Virginia. The mobile lab will help forecast infectious disease outbreaks and detect where drug misuse may be widespread.

He was being prepped for an experimental brain surgery at West Virginia University’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.

Lifestyle medicine expert Emma Morton-Eggleston, M.D., M.P.H., has been named associate vice president for community health innovation at West Virginia University Health Sciences.
WVU studies link between pregnancy, sedentary behavior, disease risk
For reasons scientists don’t fully understand, women in their 20s, 30s and 40s tend to develop cardiovascular-disease risk factors much faster than men of similar ages do. West Virginia University epidemiologist Bethany Barone Gibbs is exploring what role adverse pregnancy outcomes — like preeclampsia and gestational diabetes — play in that disparity. She’s also exploring whether physical activity can reduce or eliminate it.
