WVU in the News: Juul ban and reversal draw shrugs in Pittsburgh

On June 24, less than 24 hours after the Food and Drug Administration banned the vaping giant Juul from selling its e-cigarettes in the U.S., a federal appeals court put the brakes on. But local vaping experts say that even if the ban goes through, it’s unlikely to have a major impact in the Pittsburgh region. The market’s already flooded with other products.

Student travel and faculty research abroad grants open for submissions

The application period for the Nancy Sanders Memorial Student Travel Grant and the Nancy Sanders Memorial Faculty Research Abroad Grant is now open. Up to ten student awards of $2,000 each are available for the academic year. One faculty global pilot research award of $10,000 is available.

Stipend available to health professions students through Scholars Program

Applications are now open for the West Virginia Area Health Education Centers Rural Community Health Scholars Program (RCH Scholars). RCH Scholars is a two-year program available to 75 of West Virginia’s top health professions students interested in serving medically underserved and/or rural populations across the state.
