WVU plans for the future as BOG reviews year that required ‘laser-like’ focus
West Virginia University President Gordon Gee told Board of Governors members that during the COVID-19 crisis he is “proud that we have retained our laser-like focus on the pillars of our land-grant mission – education, healthcare and prosperity in West Virginia.”
Public Health researcher launches resource website investigating place and health in West Virginia
Research demonstrates that when asked about health or well-being, most people tend to respond with details about their good and poor behavior or access to a healthcare provider, medical facilities and clinics. To help reframe the way West Virginians think about and address population health, a new website, www.placeandhealthwv.com, is now available.

Occupational medicine provides diverse opportunities
With only 23 occupational medicine residency programs in the United States, many medical school graduates are unfamiliar with the field and, therefore, have little interest in pursuing a corresponding residency position. However, the program in the West Virginia University School of Public Health could change their minds.
