Exporting innovation: University of Alabama to replicate Health Sciences and Technology Academy at WVU
A one-of-a-kind mentoring program at West Virginia University that supports high school students who face social and financial challenges and connects them to STEM-based undergraduate and graduate degree programs will be replicated at The University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing over the next five years.

In the United States, two babies die every hour before reaching their first birthday in what one advocacy specialist calls a crisis that has gone unnoticed by many. The United States’ infant mortality rate is higher than many other developed nations, according to the United Health Foundation, and West Virginia’s infant death rate exceeds the national average.
Updated mask guidelines for WVU Medicine and WVU Health Sciences Center
WVU Medicine requires face coverings for patients and healthcare workers in all hospital and clinic areas. All patients and individuals who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to wear face coverings upon entering the WVU Health Sciences Center.

Teaching Scholars Program set for September 2021 through May 2022
The Teaching Scholars Program via Zoom focuses on developing educational theories/technologies as well as promoting educational skills, critical thinking, and innovative approaches among WVU Health Sciences Center faculty. This program is open to faculty on all WVU Campuses.

West Virginia University, including the WVU Research Corp., will close Friday, June 18, following a Presidential Proclamation and separate declaration issued by Gov. Jim Justice proclaiming a state holiday in recognition of Juneteenth.
