BeWell offers new services for Black-identified students
To better met the needs of the Black-identified students they serve, BeWell — which offers behavioral wellness services at Health Sciences — has welcomed a Black clinician to the team and added a virtual drop-in support group.
New app offers remote connection, resources for those struggling with substance use disorder
A free smartphone app is now available for state residents who are searching for connection while struggling with substance use disorder during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a partnership between West Virginia University and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, anyone struggling with substance use can access CHESS Health’s Addiction Management Platform, which uses evidence-based technology to aid in intervention, treatment and recovery and beyond.

Wearable sleep tracking devices - from Fitbit to Apple Watch to never-heard-of brands stashed away in the electronics clearance bin – have infiltrated the market at a rapid pace in recent years. And like any consumer products, not all sleep trackers are created equal, according to West Virginia University neuroscientists.

This edition provides an update on the first week of the legislative session, Governor Justice’s State of the State address and several high-profile bills introduced during the first few days of session.
WVU School of Dentistry announces campus virtual visits for dean candidates
Candidates for WVU’s dean of the School of Dentistry will begin the second round of virtual interviews on Tuesday, Feb. 16. The University community is invited to participate in the presentation portion to meet the candidates, and links will be provided at least one day in advance of those sessions.
