WVU Medicine receives FDA Investigational Drug Approval for COVID-19 immunotherapy

WVU Medicine pediatric and adult allergist and immunologist Brian Peppers, D.O., Ph.D., has received Investigational New Drug approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the experimental treatment of COVID-19 using convalescent donor plasma. This is the first FDA approved Investigational New Drug trial for COVID-19 immunotherapy to include pediatric patients.

Chambers College Ph.D. student teaches economic principles through video games during COVID-19 pandemic

Students in Noah Trudeau’s class at West Virginia University are learning principles of economics through video games, a method Trudeau, a doctoral student in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics developed as the COVID-19 pandemic was escalating. He implemented the approach just before WVU students were sent home for the remainder of the semester and they now use the games to question pandemic-related events, including why some products are leaving store shelves quicker than others.

Public Health faculty awarded distinguished fellowship designations

Two members of the West Virginia University School of Public Health have been awarded a fellowship with the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). Anna Allen, MD, MPH, and Jennifer Lultschik, MD, MPH, received fellowship status following a review of their demonstrated expertise in occupational and environmental medicine and the approval of members of the ACOEM Board of Directors.
