Jeremiah Hayanga, M.D., ECMO program director at the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, has been appointed as a special advisor by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Deputy Secretary Eric D. Hargan.

Doctors and other health care providers could get some help from artificial intelligence, which could expedite decisions regarding patient care and minimize exposure, saving personal protective equipment, according to Dr. Partho Sengupta, Abnash C. Jain chair and chief of the Division of Cardiology and director of Cardiovascular Imaging at the West Virginia University School of Medicine.

Intubation boxes help reduce risk to clinicians
WVU School of Medicine faculty collaborated with the Statler College of Engineering to create intubation boxes – helping reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission through aerosolized particles, by containing them to the intubation box.
