WV AWARE workshop to be held Nov. 1

WV AWARE (Asking Women About Relationship Experiences) will host a collaborative workshop on Friday, November 1, at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, W.Va. Check in begins at 11 a.m. and the workshop will take place from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Lunch and compensation for time/travel will be provided.

WVU Cancer Institute welcomes health researcher Dr. Nicole Stout

WVU Cancer Institute - Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) and the Division of Hematology/Oncology would like to introduce a new addition to our faculty. Nicole L. Stout, DPT, CLT-LANA, FAPTA is a renowned health care researcher, consultant, educator, and advocate. She joins the WVUCI as a research assistant professor in the School of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology this month and looks forward to meeting with fellow researchers, clinicians, and advocates interested in cancer survivorship.

Raihan Khan selected for Outstanding Merit Fellowship

A doctoral candidate in the Public Health Sciences PhD program with a concentration in social and behavioral sciences, Raihan Khan has been selected to receive this year’s WVU School of Public Health Outstanding Merit Fellowship for Continuing Doctoral Students.

WVU researchers to spearhead collaborative opioid treatment program in rural counties

West Virginia University’s expertise on combating the opioid epidemic will be utilized in a federally-funded program targeting seven rural West Virginia counties. The project, supported by a $1 million U.S. Department of Health and Human Services award, aims to strengthen opioid abuse prevention, treatment and recovery services in Calhoun, Gilmer, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Jackson and Tyler counties.
