WVU to study mandatory mine training

West Virginia University researchers are collaborating on a study designed to assess and improve training required for individuals responsible for implementing emergency response plans in mines.

WISH Committee names excellence award winners

The WVU Health Sciences Center Women In Science and Health (WISH) Committee honors Elizabeth J. Scharman, Pharm.D., and Lesley E. Cottrell, Ph.D. for outstanding achievements at reception on Oct. 23 at the WVU Health Sciences Center.

Paper written by School of Public Health personnel accepted for publication

“Bridging the Divide between Policy Makers and Public Health Researchers,” a paper written by Thomas Bias, PhD, Christiaan Abildso, PhD, Emily Vasile, MPA, and Jessica Coffman, MA, was recently selected as a contest winner. The manuscript looks at ways to successfully connect public health researchers and policymakers. The contest, sponsored by the American Public Health Association American Planning Association, and Georgia Tech, accepted six papers total. The paper will be published through the Built Environment and Public Health Clearinghouse later this fall.

Public Health Dialogues Speaker Series event taking place Nov. 6

Public Health Dialogues will host Sally Morton, Ph.D., on Friday, Nov. 6, in room 1905, Health Sciences Center North. Dr. Morton is professor and chair in the University of Pittsburgh Biostatistics Graduate School of Public Health. She is also director of the Health Policy Institute's Comparative Effectiveness Research Center.
