WVU launches undergraduate degree in public health
Students at West Virginia University will have a new option starting next spring – an undergraduate program aimed at launching them into careers in public health. A new Bachelor of Science program was approved June 5 by the Board of Governors.
Seventeen Days: new mobile app educates teens on risky sexual behavior
Teenagers, parents, educators and clinicians will have a new tool to help adolescents make more informed decisions about their sexual behavior. “Seventeen Days,” a mobile app based on the interactive movie of the same name, will be available at no cost on iPhone, iPad and Android devices beginning Thursday, June 4.

For the third year, U.S. News and World Report has ranked West Virginia University online programs in business, nursing and education among the best for veterans and active-duty service members.
Hodder to lead expanded clinical and translational efforts at WVU
Sally L. Hodder, M.D., has been named associate vice president for clinical and translational research at West Virginia University, according to Clay Marsh, M.D., vice president and executive dean for health sciences. Hodder currently serves as the director of the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (WVCTSI), a statewide health research organization at WVU.
Tsang to guest lecture at WVU Eye Institute Research Day
Stephen H. Tsang, M.D., Ph.D., Laslo A. Bito associate professor of Ophthalmology and professor of pathology and cell biology at the Columbia University Department of Ophthalmology, will be the guest lecturer at the 2015 Ophthalmology Resident Research Day and the inaugural Joginder Nath Ophthalmology Lecture.
WVU nursing professor, veteran, to participate in nation’s longest ongoing Memorial Day observance
GRAFTON, W.Va. – A West Virginia University nursing professor, and veteran of the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps, will participate in Monday's 148th Memorial Day Parade in Grafton, the nation's longest ongoing Memorial Day observance.
Brancazio named chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Leo R. Brancazio, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., has been named professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, according to Clay Marsh, M.D., vice president and executive dean of health sciences.
School of Nursing alumni celebration set for June 5-6
All alumni will be honored, and reunion classes recognized, Friday, June 5, at Touchdown Terrace at Milan Puskar Stadium. On Saturday, June 6, Dean Tara Hulsey will host a breakfast for classes 1964 through 1970 at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa.
IDEA award recipient to visit WVU
Pedram Fadavi, M.D., a 2015 IDEA award recipient, will visit the WVU Department of Radiation Oncology and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center June 3-5. Dr. Fadavi is a radiation oncologist at the Iran University of Medical Sciences.
