WVU Cancer Center, WVU Healthcare to offer free skin cancer screening
The Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at West Virginia University and WVU Healthcare will offer free skin cancer screenings from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at the Cancer Center. Advance registration is required by May 8. Call 304-598-4500 to make an appointment.

NIOSH/ WVU partnership mentors southern West Virginia high school students
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the West Virginia University Health Sciences and Technology Academy (HSTA) have teamed up in Morgantown to help students at Shady Spring High School HSTA Club (near Beckley, W.Va.) develop research projects in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields.
WVU Dentistry student awarded Best in Session Award
College students don’t do a very good job of taking care of their teeth and gums. Sawan Prabhu, a fourth-year Doctor of Dental Surgery student in the West Virginia University School of Dentistry, won a Best in Session Award for her research poster presentation on that topic at the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting, the annual meeting for the Hinman Dental Society, held March 26-28 in Atlanta, Ga.

MPH student trains to help West Virginians as community responder
Tanner Coles, 24, a first-year M.P.H. candidate at the WVU School of Public Health, has always been interested in disaster training because of his experience working with American Red Cross. He recently completed the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training after learning about it from a CERT guest speaker in a graduate seminar hosted by Bobbi Sykes, director of Practice-Based Learning in the School of Public Health.

Highland CEO returns to roots to help recognize outstanding students
The President and Chief Executive Officer of Highland Hospital Association will join West Virginia University School of Nursing faculty and staff as they celebrate the achievements of outstanding nursing students at this year’s Lorita D. Jenab Lectureship. The lecture is a highlight of the School’s annual night of recognition, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17 at the WVU Health Sciences Center’s Fukushima Auditorium.
WVU student pharmacists donate to Comfort Fund
They danced, they sang, and they raised funds for a great cause. Students from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy hosted the Seventh Annual School of Pharmacy Variety Show on April 1 and raised $1,100 for the WVU Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC) Comfort Fund.
