West Virginia AHEC Rural Community Health Scholars Program
Overview
Designed for health professions students interested in gaining hands-on experience in rural and underserved urban settings.
Two-year interdisciplinary program combining clinical, didactic, and community-based learning experiences.
All training takes place in rural and/or underserved areas.
Program Requirements
Scholars complete 160 total hours over two years (80 hours per year):
40 hours of community-based experiential or clinical training
40 hours of didactic education via the SOLE online platform
Program Stipend
$575 per year (totaling $1,150 over two years) awarded to all accepted scholars
