WVU team unmasks effective N95 alternatives
The novel coronavirus pandemic has nearly exhausted stockpiles of medical gear in the United States. Personal protective equipment, like masks, serve as a first-line defense for medical professionals with a front row seat to COVID-19. Coming to the aid of those doctors and nurses is a team of scientists from West Virginia University and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, which has developed two alternative face coverings that are as effective at blocking novel coronavirus than those highly-coveted N95 masks.

West Virginia University was notified Sunday afternoon (April 12) by the Monongalia County Health Department that a resident in one of its residence halls tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19.
Charleston Surgeon Bryan Richmond Named Chair of Department of Surgery at WVU School of Medicine Charleston Campus
Bryan K. Richmond, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S., professor of surgery at West Virginia University School of Medicine Charleston Campus has been named chair of the campus’s department of surgery effective May 1, 2020. Richmond has been serving as interim chair since earlier in the year.
