The Market at Health Sciences to close seating areas at 4 p.m. daily

In an effort to create a safe, secure and quality experience for students, faculty and staff, The Market at Health Sciences will begin closing the main dining/seating areas after daily operating hours effective Thursday, Nov. 4. Due to ongoing staffing challenges and security issues, The Market’s entry and exit doors will be locked daily at 4 p.m. Access to general seating areas will be restricted after 4 p.m.

Every Thursday afternoon for the past two years, dozens of people made their weekly pilgrimage to a nondescript meeting room at the Mercer County Health Department. There, behind a set of double doors, county health professionals ran the area’s only needle exchange — offering disease testing, counseling and clean needles to stop the spread of infectious diseases among people who use drugs.
