Announcements and Stories
Learn how to distribute news across Health Sciences, the university, and to external media.
The WVU Health Sciences Umbraco CMS is intended to support content and media directly used within managed WVU websites. The CMS media library should not be used as a general-purpose file hosting or asset storage solution for content intended primarily for other platforms or channels.
Examples of non-permitted uses include, but are not limited to:
Hosting images solely for email campaigns
Storing files intended only for social media use
Uploading assets for external systems or third-party platforms
Using the CMS as a repository for temporary, archival, or miscellaneous files
Storing documents or media that are not actively associated with website content managed in Umbraco
Assets stored within the CMS should have a clear relationship with website content.
This policy exists to:
Maintain a clean and manageable media environment
Prevent spamming of limited CMS bandwidth
Improve searchability and governance
Reduce storage bloat and duplication
Ensure ownership and accountability of hosted assets
Minimize long-term maintenance and accessibility concerns
Teams requiring file hosting or asset storage for non-web purposes should use institutionally supported platforms intended like One Drive for files and SmugMug for photos for those needs.
The WVU Health Sciences Communications and Marketing team reserves the right to remove media or files that do not align with these guidelines.
