Removing Website Content and Directory Profiles

WVU Health Sciences Communications reviews requests to remove directory profiles and older content from the public websites we maintain. The following guidelines outline how these requests are considered.

Directory Profile Removal

Directory profiles may be removed when an individual’s employment, role or affiliation changes, or when other circumstances warrant removal.

Requests are reviewed individually. The timeframe for removal is determined by the circumstances and any necessary coordination with the appropriate department.

To request removal, contact Health Sciences Communications through our Directory Updates form with a link to the profile and relevant details.

Removal of Older Content

Our public websites support current communications and information needs. They are not intended to serve as comprehensive or permanent archives.

Health Sciences Communications reserves the right to remove information more than five years old, measured from the current date, unless a valid reason for continued publication is provided.

Reasons for retaining older content may include ongoing relevance, historical significance or a continuing institutional need. Requests to retain content should include a link and an explanation of its continued value. Requests are reviewed individually, and continued publication is not guaranteed.

Removal from a public website does not replace or override applicable University records retention requirements.
